Jim Whelan's abysmal record of taxing and spending:

Whelan gets $800,000 from Codey; Codey supports VLTs; you do the math

Just recently Jim Whelan received an additional $800,000 in campaign contributions from Senate President Dick Codey.

At the time, Whelan was trumpeting the support from Codey as a way to deflect attention from the hundreds of thousands he's taken from the Camden County political bosses this year.

But in the last days of this election, now Codey is yet another albatross around Whelan's neck, hanging on top of the Camden County political bosses trying to take over Atlantic County.

Today's Press of Atlantic City reports that Senator Codey wants more video lottery terminals (VLTs) at racetracks throughout New Jersey.

Whelan’s Budget Smoke and Mirrors

Whelan Says Free Car, Gas, Insurance A Perk For City Officials

Even two years after a State Audit recommended that the number of city vehicles be reduced (by 60 to 80 vehicles) and their use closely monitored, Jim Whelan defends the practice of providing unlimited and unrestricted use of cars by city employees.  In addition to free use of the vehicles, this program includes unlimited free gas, insurance and maintenance.  While Common Cause decried the practice as “outrageous”, Jim Whelan said “I Don’t Have A Problem With It.  It’s one of the Perks Of The Job...”
